World Largest Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Heritage Complex being developed at Lothal, Gujarat, is set to become the world’s largest maritime museum complex, celebrating over 5,000 years of India’s rich maritime history.

This mega project is being developed over approximately 400 acres with an estimated investment of around ₹4,500 crore. � The foundation stone was laid in 2019, and construction began in 2022 under the Government of India’s Sagarmala initiative.

World’s tallest lighthouse museum and a large open aquatic gallery

Coastal state pavilions, maritime research institute, hotels, resorts, and entertainment zones

Advanced digital displays, 5D theatre, and immersive learning experiences

Project Status & Timeline:

The project is being developed in multiple phases

Around 65% of Phase 1A work has already been completed

First phase (including 6 galleries) is expected to open by end of 2025

Full development will continue in phases, making it a long-term global destination
